BodyType-Calculator.com is an independent website that helps you find your body shape from your own measurements and understand what that shape means for how clothes fit. Enter your bust, waist and hip (and, if you like, your high hip and shoulders), and the calculator names your shape in seconds, with a clear explanation of why.
Why We Built This Site
Most body shape quizzes online ask you to guess from a mirror or pick from a few drawings, and many give a different answer every time. We wanted a tool that works from real numbers, uses a published method, and shows its rules openly so you can check the result yourself instead of simply trusting it.
How Our Calculator Works
The female shape rules are based on peer-reviewed apparel research: the Female Figure Identification Technique (FFIT) developed by Simmons, Istook and Devarajan from 3D body scans (2004), and the shape formulas published by Lee, Istook, Nam and Park (2007). We publish the full rule chart on our home page, and we say plainly where we have added something of our own, such as the apple check and the simplified rules used for men.

How We Create Our Content
Every measurement example on our shape guides is run through the same rules the calculator uses, so the examples you read match the results you get. Health figures, such as waist-to-hip ratio cut-offs, come from published sources like the World Health Organization, and each guide lists its sources at the bottom. When we find an error or a reader points one out, we correct the page.

Body shape describes proportion, not health, size or worth, and no shape is better than another. Our calculator is not a medical tool and does not estimate clothing sizes.
